How to Launch a New Product

Launching a new product will come in easier if your company is already recognized by loyal consumers. However, introducing something new always requires taking risks and expanding to new markets – this is applicable to both known and starting companies. So, how can a product be launched successfully?

Have the Steve Jobs approach.

Steve Jobs was known for being a public speaker and an innovator. However, whenever he launched a new product, he didn’t really focus on the product he is introducing. He knew that people don’t care much about the features and the details. Instead, he emphasized on how his products affect the consumers. He talked about how it was inconvenient to have an MP3 player and a phone – thus the introduction of the iPhone. He talked about whatever people are interested in.

Think ‘revolutionary’.

People listened to Steve Jobs not just because he has a knack for public speaking, nor it’s because Apple is a huge company. People listened to Steve Jobs because they know that Apple takes risks to change the world. The products they offer aren’t just advancements – these products are revolutionary. Every company, both big and small, has the opportunity to revolutionize their products and their business as a whole. Do something that hasn’t been done by your competitors. Talk about that during your launch.

Make it an event.

Product launches are supposedly boring and a waste of time for most people. When you launch your product, make sure that you make it known both in person and online. If you have the budget for it, throw a big press event for your announcements. If not, then make sure you utilize all resources you have like social media. Make a big deal about your product launch so both your potential customers and the media will take it more seriously.

Let customers test it.

Most consumers aren’t risk-takers. They usually stick to products that they have been using for a long period of time. The only way for you to really catch their attention and gain their trust is when you let them try out whatever product you’re going to launch. By having beta-testers, you also create room for improvement, making your product better even before its launch.

It’s all about proper planning and execution.

Even if you have the best product there is, it all boils down to your planning process. It’s easy to look for strategies from other successful companies, but being a copycat is not the right way to go in terms of marketing strategies. You need to think thoroughly and plan deliberately. Plan a launch that will impress people, regardless of the number of people who will be working on the whole launch.
